Minnesota-based photographer Doug Knutson presents his black and white portraits of past Nobel Laureates in conjunction with the Nobel Peace Prize Forum held at Augsburg College on March 5 and 6. Knutson has photographed fourteen of the Nobel Peace Laureates: The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel, Lech Walesa, Betty Williams, Oscar Arias Sanchez, Rigoberta Menchu, Joseph Rotblad, Jose Ramos-Horta, Jody Williams, David Trimble, Muhammad Yunus, Mohamed ElBaradei and Wangari Maathai. These photographs, along with his portraits of speakers from previous Nobel Peace Prize Forums, will be on display at Augsburg.
Knutson went to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, to receive his B.A. and returned to Minneapolis where he has been working as a photographer for twenty-four years. He has also studied with photographers Mary Ellen Mark and Arnold Newman.
